Our origins as a Methodist Church carry with them a deep sense of belonging. The first Methodist Churches were described as societies. We are, at heart, a missionary movement. To quote John Wesley, our founder, we were:
“Raised up by God to spread scriptural
holiness throughout the land”
That’s an old fashioned way of saying that we are in the business of encouraging people to enter into life changing discipleship. Discipleship is about commitment to God and to each other, which is why people are encouraged to become members of the church.
Christians were not meant to exist in isolation but in fellowship. It is through this fellowship that vision is fostered and God’s will discerned which is why certain roles within the leadership of the church are only open to those who are members.
Membership is open to all those who acknowledge Jesus as Lord of their lives. Membership is not unique to Methodism and if you have been confirmed or received as a member in another denomination then we simply transfer your membership to this part of God’s universal church for the time that you are with us however long or short that may be.
If you have recently joined us from another congregation and would like your membership transferred or if you have never been confirmed or received into membership and would like to consider this then please let us know so that we can help you.
If you would like to know more about membership, then please contact us.
