The Bigger Picture
The Methodist Church is international and is structured in the followng way...
- The Church as a whole is described as The Connexion
- The UK part of The Connexion consists of 31 Districts
- Each District is made up of a number of Circuits
- Each Circuit is made up of a number of local churches
We are part of the Penrith Circuit which also includes Patterdale, The Cottage Wood Centre (between Plumpton and Calthwaite), Shap, Skelton, Sleagill & Stainton. The Penrith Circuit is one of 15 Circuits which make up the Cumbria District.
Every Circuit has a Superintendent Minister who carries overall responsibility for the life and mission of all the churches in the circuit.
In the Penrith Circuit our Superintendent Minister is the Reverend Richard Hall, is supported by the Reverend Phil Jackson, as a second minister. They have chosen to share equally the work in all the churches and they work closely together with rest of the ministry team, Paul Rose, our Children’s and Youth Work Team Leader and Emily McPherson our Café Worker. This work is underpinned by an army of volunteers without whom much of what we do would be impossible.
